As a user you make your own account. In this account you choose your nationality, select your language (English or Dutch) and choose your profile picture. With your account you share your preferences in the settings screen. Settings like receiving push notifications and push challenges.

The Amsterdam Discovery Challenge app is the result of a project of the municipality of Amsterdam, that aims to decrease the overcrowding in the city centre. In this project, Stad in Balans, residents and stakeholders of the city are asked to hand in suggestions for experiments that contribute to relieving pressure on the city centre. The best suggestions win sponsoring for the execution. The Amsterdam Discovery Challenge app is one of these experiments.

Among other things, the app offers you:

- a top-ranking based on points;
